Grandma's Pantry

Tucked away in the lush greenery of the English countryside, Grandma's Pantry is a rustic gem that embodies the legacy of Mabel Castillo. This quaint café seamlessly blends Mabel's heritage with the rural charm of its pastoral setting. Guests are welcomed into a cozy, inviting space that feels like a second home, perfect for those seeking a taste of warmth and nostalgia amidst the rolling hills.

The logo for "Grandma's Pantry" is designed to evoke the warmth and familiarity of a beloved grandmother's kitchen. Featuring a curvaceous, vintage script, the logo communicates a personal and inviting feel, accentuated by its earth-toned color palette that suggests simplicity and rustic charm. Intended for a café set in the English countryside, the design seamlessly marries a sense of traditional craftsmanship with casual elegance, making it ideal for a setting that promises homely comforts and a nostalgic dining experience. This logo stands as a centerpiece in a portfolio, showcasing an adept blend of typography and thematic coherence, tailored for a heritage-rich brand identity.

The menu reads like a cherished family recipe book, with yellowed pages and classic gingham borders. Titled "Granny's Tea Garden" and "Grandma's Oven," each section evokes the warmth of a rustic kitchen, inviting guests to savor dishes steeped in tradition and served with love, as if every recipe were a beloved heirloom passed down through generations.

CommunityHeritagePreservation
Grandma’s Pantry was lovingly conceived by Mabel Castillo's granddaughter, Elena, who was deeply inspired by the warmth and comfort of her grandmother's home. Growing up in a picturesque town in the English countryside, she cherished the homemade treats and treasured tea times that her grandmother made special. Eager to share this experience with everyone in her hometown and visitors alike, she envisioned a space where the traditions of her childhood could be kept alive from a modern perspective. The town, with its limited dining options, needed a welcoming spot where locals and tourists could come together, share stories, and create new memories. With a tea-time menu crafted, a charming space secured, she was ready to turn her dream into reality.
While studying to become a barista in Melbourne, Elena mastered the technical aspects of coffee making. However, her heart always longed for the quaint English countryside and the warmth of the people there. The town had faced hard times, with fewer visitors and local businesses struggling. She felt a strong urge to rejuvenate her hometown by creating a space that preserved its traditions while serving as a delightful haven for both locals and tourists. Her vision was a café that acted as a melting pot of cultures, filled with laughter, warmth, and a sense of safety—just like her grandmother’s home.
Inspired by her tales of the past, we delved into research about life during her grandmother's prime. We explored vintage recipe books, old photographs, and household items from that era, which guided our creative process. We created a mood board featuring vintage typefaces, color palettes, embroideries, and patterns from that time.
We began experimenting with imperfect hand lettering and developed a dynamic logotype with a serif typeface.
The menu was designed using terminology that felt familiar and welcoming, like something Grandma would have written herself. Vintage illustrations inspired by hatching techniques depicted key items on the tea-time menu and baked goods. Patterns of gingham and cross-stitch added a cozy, nostalgic touch.
The visual identity we crafted for Grandma's Pantry is compelling and fitting for the time period it evokes, yet remains relevant today. The creative direction for the café interiors helped the client visualize the entire space, imbuing it with humor and charm from the menu design to the posters. The overall feel of nostalgia and warmth is captured beautifully, creating an inviting atmosphere for all who visit.
